Bowling for Numbats
Join us for some friendly lawn-bowling, a sausage sizzle, games and prizes, all to raise money for the Australasian Society of Zoo Keeping and Project Numbat.

What’s the event raising money for?
Over this week approximately 25 zoos and wildlife parks from around Australia and New Zealand will hold ten pin bowling and lawn bowling events to raise money for Numbat conservation and to assist with the running of the Society. The previous fundraising events have seen us raise over $35,000 that was donated to projects involved in the conservation of the Greater Bilby, Asian Rhinos, Southern Cassowary, Philippine Crocodiles, New Zealand Kea and Southern Corroboree Frogs.
Primarily, any money raised will go towards the DNA analysis of predator scats, saliva and hair remnants found on radio-collars and/or carcass remains. Predator control is a high priority, and gathering DNA data will be pivotal in creating the most effective control regimes for management of Numbat habitat, which they share with other threatened marsupials.
Additional funds could be used to aid community awareness projects, including, but not limited to, school education packs and presentations, signage, merchandise and other promotional material.
